Language Instruction and Curriculum Development
The ELP Specialist develops and delivers language instruction programs tailored to students’ English proficiency levels. This includes creating lesson plans that align with ELP standards, incorporating reading, writing, speaking, and listening activities to enhance language development. By designing an engaging curriculum, the ELP Specialist ensures that students acquire the skills needed for academic success while supporting their cultural backgrounds.
Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring
A core responsibility of the ELP Specialist is to assess students’ language proficiency through standardized tests and other assessment tools. This includes initial assessments to determine proficiency levels, ongoing progress monitoring, and adapting instruction based on individual needs. By evaluating and tracking student progress, the ELP Specialist identifies areas for improvement and tailors instruction to ensure each student reaches their language goals.
Collaboration with Teachers and Support Staff

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, TESOL, Linguistics, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in language instruction or working with English Language Learners.
- Certification in TESOL, ESL, or related English language instruction qualifications.
- Strong understanding of language acquisition theories, ELP standards, and culturally responsive teaching.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
