Responsibilities
Operating X-Ray Equipment
- Set up and operate X-ray machines and related diagnostic equipment to capture images as prescribed by physicians.
- Adjust equipment settings to ensure optimal image quality based on the specific area being examined.
- Ensure proper positioning of patients to capture clear and accurate diagnostic images.
Patient Care and Safety
- Prepare patients for X-ray procedures, explaining the process and answering any questions to ensure their comfort and understanding.
- Monitor patients during procedures to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Use protective measures, such as lead aprons and shields, to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.
Image Quality and Analysis
- Review X-ray images to ensure they meet quality standards and are free of artifacts or distortions.
- Work collaboratively with radiologists and physicians to interpret findings and provide accurate results.
- Maintain accurate records of procedures performed and images captured.
Equipment Maintenance and Compliance
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of X-ray equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or technical issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Adhere to regulatory standards and safety protocols, including those set by local health authorities and radiological safety guidelines.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain detailed patient records, including information about the procedure, images taken, and any observations.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to schedule procedures and manage workflow efficiently.
- Participate in continuous training and development to stay updated on advancements in radiologic technology.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Associate’s degree or diploma in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
- Certification or licensure as an X-Ray Technician (e.g., ARRT certification) is typically required.
- Proven experience in operating X-ray equipment and performing diagnostic imaging procedures.
- Strong knowledge of radiological safety standards and protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide compassionate patient care.
