Responsibilities

Operating X-Ray Equipment

• Set up and operate X-ray machines and related diagnostic equipment to capture images as prescribed by physicians.
• Adjust equipment settings to ensure optimal image quality based on the specific area being examined.
• Ensure proper positioning of patients to capture clear and accurate diagnostic images.

Patient Care and Safety

• Prepare patients for X-ray procedures, explaining the process and answering any questions to ensure their comfort and understanding.
• Monitor patients during procedures to ensure their safety and well-being.
• Use protective measures, such as lead aprons and shields, to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.

Image Quality and Analysis

• Review X-ray images to ensure they meet quality standards and are free of artifacts or distortions.
• Work collaboratively with radiologists and physicians to interpret findings and provide accurate results.
• Maintain accurate records of procedures performed and images captured.

Equipment Maintenance and Compliance

• Perform routine maintenance and calibration of X-ray equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or technical issues to the appropriate personnel.
• Adhere to regulatory standards and safety protocols, including those set by local health authorities and radiological safety guidelines.

Administrative Duties

• Maintain detailed patient records, including information about the procedure, images taken, and any observations.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to schedule procedures and manage workflow efficiently.
• Participate in continuous training and development to stay updated on advancements in radiologic technology.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Associate’s degree or diploma in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
• Certification or licensure as an X-Ray Technician (e.g., ARRT certification) is typically required.
• Proven experience in operating X-ray equipment and performing diagnostic imaging procedures.
• Strong knowledge of radiological safety standards and protocols.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide compassionate patient care.
• Attention to detail and the ability to analyze and assess image quality effectively.
