Responsibilities
1. Network Monitoring and Incident Management
- Continuously monitor the network infrastructure and systems for performance and stability.
- Detect, identify, and troubleshoot network issues and service interruptions, ensuring minimal impact on operations.
- Respond to alerts, prioritize incidents based on severity, and escalate issues to appropriate technical teams when necessary.
2. Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution
- Perform root cause analysis and provide timely resolution for network-related issues, including hardware and software malfunctions.
- Resolve connectivity problems, slow performance issues, and other network disruptions.
- Coordinate with other IT departments and service providers to address and fix problems promptly.
3. System Maintenance and Updates
- Ensure that all network systems, equipment, and devices are regularly maintained, patched, and updated to optimize performance and security.
- Perform routine checks and preventive maintenance tasks to avoid potential issues.
- Assist in the configuration and deployment of network hardware, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
4. Documentation and Reporting
- Document network issues, solutions, and service disruptions for future reference and reporting.
- Provide detailed incident reports and network performance analysis to management.
- Create and maintain knowledge base articles to help resolve recurring issues quickly.
5. Network Security and Compliance
- Assist in ensuring that network systems meet security standards and are compliant with internal policies and external regulations.
- Monitor and detect security threats and vulnerabilities, escalating security incidents to the appropriate teams.
- Work with network security teams to implement firewalls, VPNs, and other security measures to protect the network infrastructure.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in network support, IT support, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.) and network devices (routers, switches, firewalls).
- Experience with network monitoring tools and diagnostic utilities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- IT certifications (such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or similar) are preferred.
