What You’ll Do: Responsibilities
In this leadership role, you’ll be responsible for overseeing various aspects of construction activities and ensuring everything runs smoothly. Your day-to-day might involve tasks like:
- Helping the Offshore Construction Manager coordinate all the different jobs happening on board.
- Supervising foremen and supervisors from various construction and assembly teams, making sure they follow quality and safety standards.
- Planning and organizing construction activities for each shift to optimize production.
- Keeping the Offshore Construction Manager informed about any potential problems or delays, and the overall project progress.
- Communicating and collaborating with the Chief Mate, engineers, and subcontractor supervisors to ensure smooth operation and construction.
- Solving any issues related to coordination, priority, and how different teams work together to achieve project goals.
- Making sure all construction crew members follow safety procedures, including permits, daily briefings, and risk assessments.
- Encouraging all crew and subcontractors to prioritize health, safety, and environmental awareness.
- Following the company’s safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
- Reporting any accidents or near misses.
- Managing crane operations, working with the Chief Mate on major crane movements, ROV deployment, and underwater activities.
- Assisting with marine operations when needed.
- Creating daily construction reports.
- Working with the Vessel Field Engineer to track project equipment and supplies, monitor the stinger and JLT (specialized offshore equipment), and ensure rigging gear is up-to-date and properly labeled.
