Key Responsibilities

Processing Transactions

Efficiently handle cash, credit, and debit transactions using the point-of-sale (POS) system. Accurately scan items, apply discounts or promotions, and provide correct change. Ensure all transactions are completed in compliance with company policies and procedures.

Providing Excellent Customer Service

Greet customers warmly, address their inquiries, and assist with any issues during the checkout process. Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor to create a positive customer experience. Handle complaints or escalate them to the appropriate supervisor when necessary.

Balancing the Cash Drawer

At the start and end of each shift, count and verify the cash drawer to ensure accuracy. Record discrepancies, if any, and report them to management. Maintain accountability for all transactions processed during the shift.

Promoting Products and Offers

Inform customers about current promotions, discounts, or loyalty programs to encourage additional purchases. Answer product-related questions and provide recommendations when appropriate.

Maintaining the Checkout Area

Ensure the checkout area is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies such as receipt paper, bags, and pens. Monitor equipment for any malfunctions and notify the relevant personnel for repairs.

Assisting with Inventory Management

Support inventory management by notifying supervisors of low-stock items. Occasionally assist with restocking shelves and organizing products in the sales area.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Educational Background: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Customer Service Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact positively with customers.
  • Numerical Accuracy: Ability to handle money accurately and perform basic math calculations quickly.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensures transactions are processed accurately and follows company procedures.
  • Reliability: Dependable and punctual, with the ability to handle responsibilities independently.
  • Tech Proficiency: Familiarity with POS systems and basic computer skills.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth operations.
