We are seeking a skilled and responsible Heavy and Light Vehicle Driver to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for transporting goods, materials, or passengers safely and efficiently using a range of vehicles, including heavy and light-duty vehicles. You will play a crucial role in ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining the operational flow of our logistics or transportation services.

Key Responsibilities

Safe Operation of Vehicles

Drive heavy and light vehicles, such as trucks, vans, or cars, to transport goods, materials, or passengers to designated locations. Adhere to traffic rules, regulations, and company policies to ensure safe and reliable transportation.

Timely Deliveries and Schedule Management

Plan routes and schedules to ensure timely and efficient deliveries or pickups. Adapt to road and traffic conditions to maintain punctuality and inform supervisors of any delays or changes in the schedule.

Vehicle Maintenance and Inspections

Perform routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure roadworthiness. Check for mechanical issues, fluid levels, tire conditions, and report any maintenance or repair needs promptly. Keep the vehicle clean and in good condition at all times.

Loading and Unloading Goods

Assist in loading and unloading goods as required, ensuring items are handled with care to avoid damage. Verify the accuracy of delivery documents and goods during pickups and deliveries.

Documentation and Reporting

Maintain accurate trip logs, mileage records, and delivery receipts. Submit reports on fuel consumption, vehicle performance, and any incidents encountered on the road.

Compliance with Safety Standards

Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required. Ensure cargo is securely fastened and complies with weight and load restrictions. Report accidents or unsafe conditions immediately to the management.

Customer Service

Engage courteously with clients and stakeholders during deliveries or pickups. Address customer queries or concerns professionally and ensure a positive representation of the company.

Skills and Qualifications

• Licenses and Certifications: A valid heavy and light vehicle driver’s license appropriate for the region is mandatory. Defensive driving certifications are an advantage.
• Driving Experience: Proven experience as a driver for both heavy and light vehicles with a strong record of safe driving.
• Route Familiarity: Knowledge of local and regional roads, traffic patterns, and navigation tools such as GPS systems.
• Physical Fitness: Ability to handle physical tasks such as loading/unloading goods and performing vehicle checks.
• Time Management: Capability to manage schedules efficiently and meet tight deadlines.
• Communication Skills: Basic verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients and completing documentation.
