Responsibilities
1. Customer Service and Guest Interaction
- Greet customers warmly as they enter the restaurant and escort them to their tables.
- Take accurate food and drink orders, ensuring all special requests or dietary restrictions are noted.
- Provide menu recommendations, answer questions about menu items, and offer suggestions for food and drink pairings.
- Check in with customers during their meal to ensure everything is satisfactory and address any concerns promptly.
2. Order Management and Delivery
- Accurately input orders into the system and communicate them clearly to the kitchen or bar staff.
- Serve food and beverages to guests in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring proper presentation.
- Ensure that each table has everything it needs, including condiments, napkins, and drink refills.
- Clear used dishes and utensils from tables promptly to maintain cleanliness and comfort for guests.
3. Maintaining Cleanliness and Organization
- Keep the dining area, tables, and seating areas clean and organized throughout the shift.
- Ensure that all menus, silverware, glasses, and other dining tools are clean and well-stocked.
- Assist in setting up and closing down the dining area at the beginning and end of each shift, including organizing tables and chairs, cleaning floors, and wiping down surfaces.
4. Payment and Checkout
- Present checks to customers and process payments, ensuring accurate change and providing receipts as needed.
- Handle cash, credit card transactions, and tips according to the restaurant’s procedures.
- Ensure that all payment transactions are accurate and that any discrepancies are addressed immediately.
5. Team Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with other team members, including kitchen staff, bartenders, and fellow servers, to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Communicate effectively with the rest of the team to keep track of orders and provide a seamless customer experience.
- Assist with restocking supplies and other duties as required by the management team.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in hospitality is a plus.
- Proven experience in a waitress or server role, preferably in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with customers and colleagues.
- Ability to carry heavy trays and stand for extended periods of time.
- Knowledge of food and beverage menus and ability to recommend items to guests.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Positive attitude, patience, and the ability to handle stressful situations with a calm demeanor.
