Key Responsibilities
Financial Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the organization.
- Record all financial transactions, including income, expenses, and other account details, into accounting systems.
- Ensure all entries comply with accounting principles and standards.
Preparation of Financial Statements
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
Account Reconciliation
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure all discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly.
- Review and reconcile accounts payable and receivable to maintain accurate records.
- Monitor and manage the company’s general ledger to ensure consistency.
Budgeting and Financial Analysis
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue growth.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decisions.
Tax Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of tax returns in compliance with local regulations.
- Calculate and remit taxes, including VAT, income tax, and payroll taxes.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and advise the management accordingly.
Internal Controls and Audit Support
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and insights.
- Identify and address any weaknesses in accounting procedures.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with other departments to provide financial insights and support operational goals.
- Communicate financial data and analysis to management in a clear and concise manner.
- Train and guide junior accounting staff, if applicable.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is preferred.
- Proven experience as an accountant, preferably in [industry/sector].
