Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Record Management
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledgers, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Ensure that all transactions are recorded correctly and classified appropriately.
2. Budget Preparation and Monitoring
Assist in preparing budgets by analyzing historical data and forecasting future financial needs. Monitor actual performance against budgets and report variances to management. Provide recommendations for cost optimization and budget adherence.
3. Tax Compliance and Reporting
Prepare and file tax returns in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Ensure timely payment of taxes and maintain records to support tax audits. Stay updated on changes in tax laws and incorporate them into financial practices.
4. Financial Reporting
Generate accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Provide detailed analyses to management, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities.
5. Auditing and Internal Controls
Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations. Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
6. Payroll Processing
Manage payroll processes, ensuring accurate calculations of salaries, benefits, and deductions. Maintain compliance with labor laws and regulations related to employee compensation.
7. Reconciliation and Analysis
Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial records. Identify discrepancies, investigate their causes, and implement corrective actions promptly.
8. Financial Strategy Support
Collaborate with management to develop financial strategies, assess investment opportunities, and plan for long-term financial growth. Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data analysis.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) are preferred.
- Proven experience in accounting or finance roles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and organizational abilities.
