Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Operation
Operate heavy vehicles safely and efficiently for the transportation of goods, equipment, or passengers. Ensure adherence to assigned routes and schedules, maintaining punctuality at all times.
Safety Compliance
Follow all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company policies to ensure safe driving practices. Use appropriate safety measures such as seat belts and load securing mechanisms to prevent accidents.
Pre-Trip and Post-Trip Inspections
Conduct routine inspections of the vehicle before and after trips to ensure it is in good working condition. Report any mechanical issues or defects to the maintenance team for timely repairs.
Load Handling and Securement
Ensure that goods or equipment are loaded, secured, and unloaded properly to prevent damage during transit. Follow protocols for weight limits and safe distribution of loads.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain accurate records of trips, deliveries, fuel usage, and any incidents that occur during transportation. Submit reports to the supervisor as required.
Vehicle Maintenance
Monitor the condition of the vehicle, including tire pressure, oil levels, and other critical systems. Ensure regular servicing and maintenance schedules are followed.
Emergency Handling
Respond appropriately to road emergencies, breakdowns, or accidents. Communicate with relevant personnel and authorities to address issues promptly and effectively.
Customer Interaction
When transporting goods or passengers, provide excellent customer service by ensuring timely and professional interactions. Address concerns politely and report unresolved issues to management.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Valid heavy vehicle driver’s license with a clean driving record.
