Key Responsibilities
1. Safe Operation of Vehicles
Operate heavy vehicles responsibly and ensure the safety of passengers, goods, and equipment during transit. Maintain control of the vehicle in various weather and traffic conditions, adhering to traffic laws and company policies.
2. Timely Transportation
Ensure punctual delivery of goods or passengers to their destinations. Plan and follow the most efficient routes, considering traffic, road conditions, and delivery schedules.
3. Vehicle Maintenance
Conduct regular inspections of the vehicle to identify any mechanical issues. Ensure that vehicles are kept in good condition by performing basic maintenance tasks such as checking tire pressure, oil levels, and brake systems. Report any significant issues to the maintenance team promptly.
4. Loading and Unloading Cargo
Assist in loading and unloading goods to ensure proper handling and distribution of weight. Secure loads effectively to prevent damage or shifting during transit.
5. Compliance with Regulations
Adhere to all road safety regulations, transportation laws, and company procedures. Ensure that all necessary documentation, such as licenses, permits, and delivery receipts, are in order and up to date.
6. Communication
Maintain clear and timely communication with dispatchers, supervisors, and customers. Provide updates on delivery status, delays, or issues encountered during transit.
7. Record Keeping
Maintain accurate logs of working hours, vehicle inspections, mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery details. Submit reports as required to comply with company and regulatory standards.
Qualifications and Skills
- Valid heavy vehicle driver’s license appropriate to the region.
