Responsibilities
Cost Estimation and Analysis
- Review project blueprints, technical specifications, and requirements to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Analyze costs associated with materials, labor, machinery, and equipment needed for project completion.
- Identify potential risks or discrepancies in project documents and recommend cost-effective solutions.
- Use estimation software and tools to create accurate and competitive bids.
Budget Preparation and Management
- Develop project budgets by consolidating cost data and aligning them with client requirements.
- Monitor budgets during the project lifecycle to identify variances and propose corrective actions.
- Provide financial insights to assist in optimizing project plans and resources.
Supplier and Vendor Coordination
- Research and evaluate suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and terms.
- Maintain a database of reliable vendors and material costs for future projects.
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely procurement of materials within budget constraints.
Collaboration with Project Teams
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and architects to understand project objectives and constraints.
- Participate in project planning meetings to provide cost-related insights and recommendations.
- Support contract negotiations by providing cost breakdowns and justification for pricing.
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare and present comprehensive cost reports, bid summaries, and financial analyses to stakeholders.
- Maintain detailed records of all estimation activities for reference and audit purposes.
- Ensure all cost estimates comply with industry standards and organizational policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in cost estimation, preferably in civil engineering or construction projects.
- Proficiency in estimation software and tools, as well as MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and market pricing trends.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills for liaising with suppliers and project teams.
