Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation and Analysis
Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing project specifications, designs, and scope of work. Calculate material, labor, equipment, and overhead costs to provide a comprehensive project budget. Ensure that estimates are accurate and align with client requirements and industry standards.
Tendering and Bidding
Participate in the tendering and bidding process by preparing proposals, pricing structures, and technical documentation. Analyze bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive and accurate submissions.
Project Feasibility Studies
Conduct feasibility studies to evaluate project viability based on estimated costs, potential risks, and expected returns. Provide insights and recommendations to project stakeholders to support decision-making.
Collaboration with Stakeholders
Work closely with architects, designers, and project managers to understand project requirements and resolve discrepancies in designs or specifications. Communicate effectively to ensure that all parties are aligned on cost-related aspects.
Material and Vendor Management
Research and evaluate material suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and quality standards. Maintain a database of reliable vendors and stay updated on market trends and pricing fluctuations.
Cost Control and Budget Management
Assist in monitoring and controlling project costs throughout the construction phase. Compare actual costs with estimates and identify variances to recommend corrective actions.
Documentation and Reporting
Prepare and maintain detailed records of estimates, project budgets, and cost reports. Present findings and updates to management and clients in a clear and concise manner.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in cost estimation, preferably in civil engineering or construction projects.
- Proficiency in estimation software and tools, such as AutoCAD, MS Project, or Primavera.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
