Key Responsibilities
1. Maintaining Financial Records
- Record and organize financial transactions in the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Prepare and maintain financial documentation, including invoices, receipts, and tax records.
- Conduct periodic reconciliations of bank statements and other financial accounts to identify and resolve discrepancies.
2. Preparing Financial Reports
- Generate financial statements such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Provide management with regular updates on the organization’s financial position.
- Assist in analyzing financial performance, highlighting trends, and identifying areas for improvement.
3. Budgeting and Cost Management
- Assist in preparing budgets by analyzing historical data and predicting future financial needs.
- Monitor actual expenses against the budget, flagging any variances for corrective action.
- Provide cost-saving recommendations to management without compromising operational efficiency.
4. Ensuring Compliance
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations, including tax laws.
- Prepare and file accurate tax returns on time to avoid penalties.
- Liaise with auditors and provide necessary documentation during audits.
5. Managing Accounts Payable and Receivable
- Process invoices and payments for vendors, ensuring all financial obligations are met promptly.
- Track outstanding receivables, issuing reminders, and following up on overdue payments.
- Manage payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate salary distribution to employees.
6. Supporting Financial Decision-Making
- Conduct financial analyses and forecasts to aid in decision-making.
- Provide insights on investment opportunities, risk management, and financial planning.
- Assist management in evaluating the financial implications of business strategies and projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; certifications like CPA or ACCA are a plus.
- Proven experience in accounting roles, preferably in a similar industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and taxation.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work with high accuracy.
- Strong communication skills for reporting and collaboration with various stakeholders.
