Key Responsibilities
System Monitoring and Maintenance
Monitor the performance of control systems, including automation equipment, SCADA systems, PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), and DCS (Distributed Control Systems). Perform regular checks to ensure that all systems are functioning correctly and proactively identify potential issues.
Troubleshooting and Problem Solving
Diagnose and troubleshoot control system failures, including software and hardware problems. Work to resolve technical issues efficiently and ensure minimal disruption to operations. Utilize diagnostic tools and technical manuals to identify the root cause and apply solutions.
Software and Hardware Support
Provide support for both software and hardware aspects of control systems. This includes updating software, making necessary configurations, and replacing or repairing faulty hardware components.
System Configuration and Calibration
Assist in configuring, calibrating, and fine-tuning control systems to meet specific operational requirements. Ensure that systems are set up correctly, parameters are optimized, and that the systems are operating at peak efficiency.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain detailed records of system configurations, maintenance activities, troubleshooting steps, and solutions implemented. Prepare reports on system performance, issues encountered, and improvements made.
Collaboration with Engineering Teams
Work closely with engineers, operations staff, and project managers to ensure the control systems meet the specific requirements of each project. Provide input on system design, upgrades, and performance improvements.
Training and Support for Operations Staff
Train and support operations staff in the use and maintenance of control systems. Provide guidance on system procedures, troubleshooting techniques, and safety protocols.
Compliance and Safety
Ensure that all control systems are compliant with safety standards, regulations, and industry best practices. Monitor system operations to avoid potential risks and ensure the safety of staff and equipment.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience working with control systems, automation equipment, and industrial control software.
- Strong understanding of PLCs, SCADA systems, DCS, and control system programming languages (e.g., Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram).
- Experience in troubleshooting control systems and implementing effective solutions.
- Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and safety practices related to control systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration with other engineers and operations staff.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
