Key Responsibilities
System Design and Implementation
- Design and configure control systems, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and other automation tools, to optimize performance and reliability.
- Implement new control systems and software upgrades as needed, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Work closely with project managers and design teams to translate operational requirements into technical specifications for control system applications.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance
- Monitor and troubleshoot control system issues, diagnosing faults in PLCs, HMIs, and other control equipment to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on control systems, conducting inspections and implementing upgrades as needed to prevent technical failures.
- Develop and maintain documentation for troubleshooting procedures, providing guidance to team members and ensuring consistent problem resolution.
Continuous Improvement and Optimization
- Analyze system performance data to identify areas for improvement, suggesting and implementing control modifications that enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop and refine control strategies that align with overall production goals and improve system reliability.
- Stay informed about industry advancements and emerging technologies, applying new knowledge to improve existing control systems and practices.
Technical Support and Training
- Provide real-time technical support to production teams, maintenance staff, and other users to address control system issues as they arise.
- Develop and conduct training programs for end-users and team members, enhancing their understanding of control system functionality and troubleshooting techniques.
- Maintain detailed records of support activities and system changes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in control system design, support, and maintenance, preferably in an industrial setting.
- Skills: Proficient in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley), HMI design, SCADA systems, and control network troubleshooting; knowledge of electrical schematics and automation protocols.
- Attributes: Analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
