Key Responsibilities
1. Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies and procedures in accordance with legal and company requirements.
- Monitor compliance with local, national, and international safety regulations and standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and hazard identification to ensure a safe workplace environment.
2. Safety Training and Awareness
- Organize and deliver training sessions for employees on health, safety, and environmental practices.
- Promote a safety-first culture by increasing awareness of HSE standards and procedures.
- Provide guidance to employees and management on the proper use of safety equipment and protocols.
3. Workplace Inspections and Audits
- Perform regular inspections of the workplace to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Conduct audits to evaluate the effectiveness of HSE policies and recommend improvements where necessary.
- Document and report inspection findings, including corrective actions taken to mitigate risks.
4. Incident Response and Investigation
- Respond promptly to workplace incidents, accidents, and emergencies, ensuring appropriate measures are taken.
- Investigate incidents to determine the root cause and develop strategies to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain detailed records of incidents, near-misses, and corrective actions.
5. Environmental Management
- Monitor environmental impact and ensure compliance with relevant environmental regulations.
- Implement waste management, pollution control, and energy-saving initiatives to minimize environmental risks.
- Collaborate with teams to promote sustainable practices within the organization.
6. Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare and submit detailed HSE reports to management and regulatory authorities.
- Maintain records of safety training, inspections, and incidents in accordance with company and legal requirements.
- Provide regular updates to management on HSE performance metrics and areas for improvement.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Certification in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in an HSE role, preferably in a high-risk industry such as construction, manufacturing, or oil and gas.
- Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to emergencies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with HSE management systems.
