Steel Fixer Required in Oman

A Steel Fixer is responsible for assembling and installing steel reinforcements to strengthen concrete structures, such as beams, columns, slabs, and foundations. This role involves interpreting construction drawings, cutting and bending steel bars, and securely positioning them within formwork. Steel Fixers play a critical role in ensuring the structural integrity of buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure projects. They work closely with other construction professionals to meet project specifications and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Steel Reinforcement Preparation

• Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications to determine the requirements for steel reinforcements.
• Measure, cut, and bend steel bars or mesh using specialized tools and machinery.
• Prepare reinforcements of various shapes and sizes as needed for the project.

Assembly and Installation

• Position and fix steel bars or mesh into the formwork according to design specifications.
• Secure reinforcements with ties, spacers, or fasteners to ensure stability during concrete pouring.
• Ensure accurate spacing and alignment of reinforcements to meet structural standards.

Safety and Compliance

• Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) on-site.
• Inspect tools, machinery, and materials to ensure they are in good working condition and safe to use.
• Adhere to construction site regulations and work collaboratively to maintain a safe working environment.

Collaboration and Reporting

• Work closely with site supervisors, engineers, and other construction professionals to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
• Report any issues, such as material shortages or design inconsistencies, to the supervisor.
• Assist in resolving on-site challenges and adapting reinforcement designs when required.

Maintenance and Clean-Up

• Maintain tools and equipment to ensure their longevity and functionality.
• Clean up the worksite after tasks are completed, ensuring it is free of debris and hazards.

Qualifications and Skills

• Proven experience as a Steel Fixer or in a similar role within the construction industry.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints.
• Skilled in using tools and machinery for cutting, bending, and fixing steel reinforcements.
• Strong understanding of safety procedures and practices on construction sites.
• Physical stamina and strength to perform labor-intensive tasks in various weather conditions.
• Attention to detail to ensure accurate and precise reinforcement installation.
• Good communication and teamwork skills for collaborating with other construction workers.
