Key Responsibilities
Health and Safety Management
- Develop, implement, and enforce health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with legal requirements and company standards.
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify hazards and propose measures to mitigate risks.
- Monitor workplace activities to ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
Training and Awareness
- Organize and conduct safety training programs to educate employees on workplace hazards, emergency procedures, and safe practices.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness by organizing workshops, safety drills, and toolbox talks.
- Provide guidance to staff on proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety tools.
Incident Reporting and Investigation
- Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
- Prepare detailed reports on incidents and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
- Maintain records of accidents, inspections, and safety-related incidents for compliance and analysis.
Compliance and Inspections
- Ensure the organization complies with local and international health, safety, and environmental laws.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of work areas, equipment, and processes.
- Coordinate with external regulatory bodies during inspections and address any compliance issues.
Environmental Management
- Monitor and implement environmental programs to reduce the organization’s ecological footprint.
- Ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials and adherence to environmental standards.
- Promote sustainable practices, including energy conservation and waste reduction initiatives.
Collaboration and Reporting
- Work closely with management, project teams, and contractors to ensure safety standards are integrated into operations.
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on safety performance and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with emergency response teams to develop and implement effective contingency plans.
Qualifications and Skills
- A bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in an HSE role, preferably in industrial, construction, or manufacturing settings.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, risk management, and emergency response procedures.
- Certification in safety management (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage employees and management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address safety challenges effectively.
