Key Responsibilities

1. Safety Inspections and Risk Assessments

One of the core duties of an HSE Technician is to perform regular safety inspections across the workplace. HSE Technicians are responsible for monitoring the implementation of safety procedures and protocols within the workplace. This includes ensuring that safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, emergency exits, and first aid kits, is readily accessible and properly maintained. They also ensure that workers are following safety practices, such as wearing protective gear and operating machinery safely. If safety standards are not being met, the technician takes corrective action and works to improve safety compliance.

3. Training and Awareness Programs

An important responsibility of an HSE Technician is to assist in developing and delivering safety training programs for employees. These programs include educating workers about safety protocols, emergency procedures, the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and environmental best practices. HSE Technicians are trained to respond to emergencies such as fires, chemical spills, or other workplace accidents. During emergencies, the technician may assist in managing the situation, coordinating with emergency services, and ensuring that all employees are safe. Qualifications and Skills

• Certifications: Certifications in HSE, such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or OSHA, are highly beneficial.
• Experience: Previous experience in an HSE or safety-related role, preferably in the relevant industry (construction, manufacturing, etc.), is preferred.
• Knowledge: A strong understanding of safety regulations, environmental laws, and health guidelines is essential.
• Attention to Detail: The ability to spot potential hazards, identify risks, and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
• Communication Skills: Effective communication skills to report issues, lead training sessions, and interact with workers and management.
• Problem Solving: The ability to identify issues, analyze risks, and implement effective solutions.
• Physical Stamina: The ability to move around the workplace, conduct inspections, and handle emergency situations as they arise.

Work Environment

HSE Technicians typically work in environments where they need to conduct regular site inspections, such as construction sites, factories, oil rigs, and industrial plants. The work can be physically demanding and may involve being exposed to hazardous materials or environments. The role also requires a great deal of time spent walking, standing, or inspecting various locations around the workplace.
