X-Ray Technician Required in Oman

The X-Ray Technician is responsible for operating radiographic equipment to produce images of various parts of the body, aiding in the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions. This role involves preparing patients for procedures, ensuring correct positioning, and maintaining a high standard of image quality while adhering to safety protocols. The X-Ray Technician collaborates closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate imaging results and optimal patient care. This position requires a strong knowledge of radiography, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach to working with patients.

Key Responsibilities

Radiographic Imaging

• Operate X-ray and radiographic equipment to capture diagnostic images as requested by physicians or radiologists, ensuring images meet quality and clarity standards.
• Position patients correctly to obtain the necessary images, ensuring alignment with the specific requirements of each examination.
• Adjust and control the equipment settings to produce optimal images while minimizing exposure to radiation.

Patient Care and Preparation

• Prepare patients for radiographic procedures by explaining the process, addressing concerns, and answering questions to provide a comfortable experience.
• Take necessary precautions to protect patients from unnecessary exposure to radiation, including the use of protective equipment and careful adjustment of machine settings.
• Assist patients with physical limitations in getting on and off the examination table and help them remain still during imaging for accurate results.

Safety and Compliance

• Follow all safety guidelines and protocols to protect patients, colleagues, and oneself from radiation exposure, ensuring a safe work environment.
• Maintain detailed records of procedures performed, equipment usage, and patient interactions as required by regulatory standards.
• Perform regular maintenance checks on radiographic equipment to ensure proper functionality and report any technical issues to the appropriate department.

Collaboration and Documentation

• Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare team members to interpret results, provide additional imaging when necessary, and contribute to accurate diagnoses.
• Document and maintain patient records accurately, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with healthcare standards and regulations.
• Participate in training and continuous education programs to stay up-to-date on advancements in radiographic techniques and safety practices.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s degree in radiologic technology or a related field; certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent is preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in radiography, ideally within a healthcare setting.
• Skills: Proficient in operating radiographic equipment, knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology, strong attention to detail, and excellent patient care skills.
• Attributes: Empathy and patience, strong communication skills, attention to safety protocols, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
