Key Responsibilities
1. Customer Service and Interaction
- Greet guests as they arrive, escort them to their tables, and present menus.
- Take food and beverage orders accurately and promptly, ensuring all special requests or dietary needs are noted and communicated to the kitchen.
- Provide recommendations on food and drink pairings, and inform customers about menu items, including any specials.
- Address customer concerns and complaints professionally and courteously, ensuring a pleasant dining experience.
- Monitor customer satisfaction throughout the meal and offer additional assistance when necessary.
2. Serving Food and Beverages
- Serve food and beverages to customers in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure that all food and drinks are presented in an appealing manner, according to restaurant standards.
- Refill drinks and clear empty plates, glasses, and utensils as needed.
- Ensure guests have everything they need during their meal, including condiments, refills, and utensils.
3. Order and Payment Management
- Take orders accurately and ensure they are sent to the kitchen or bar without delay.
- Handle guest payments, including processing credit cards and cash transactions, and issue receipts.
- Maintain knowledge of the restaurant’s payment procedures, ensuring all transactions are correctly processed.
- Ensure customers receive accurate change and bills, and handle any discrepancies with professionalism.
4. Table Preparation and Maintenance
- Set and clean tables before and after each guest visit, ensuring a clean and welcoming environment.
- Ensure that table settings are complete with clean dishes, utensils, glassware, and napkins.
- Maintain a tidy and organized work area, including the front-of-house dining area, and address any spills or messes promptly.
5. Collaboration with Kitchen and Bar Staff
- Work closely with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure that orders are fulfilled correctly and served on time.
- Communicate customer preferences, dietary restrictions, and special requests to the kitchen and other team members.
- Ensure that all food and drink orders are prepared according to the restaurant’s quality standards.
6. Health and Safety Compliance
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation regulations to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Handle food and beverages in accordance with food safety standards, ensuring they are stored, prepared, and served properly.
- Adhere to company policies, including personal hygiene and dress code standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; further education or training in hospitality or customer service is a plus.
- Experience: Previous experience as a waiter or in a customer-facing role is preferred but not required.
- Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and work effectively in a team.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, carry heavy trays, and move quickly in a busy restaurant setting.
- Customer-Centric Attitude: Friendly, approachable, and always focused on customer satisfaction.
