Key Responsibilities
1. Maintaining Financial Records
- Record and track all financial transactions, including income, expenses, and assets, in the company’s accounting system.
- Ensure the accuracy of financial data by regularly reviewing and reconciling accounts, including bank statements, receipts, and invoices.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring that payments are processed on time and that outstanding invoices are followed up.
2. Preparing Financial Statements
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost-saving or efficiency improvements.
- Ensure financial reports comply with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
3. Budgeting and Forecasting
- Assist in preparing the company’s annual budget by providing financial data, projections, and analysis.
- Monitor actual performance against the budget, identifying variances and providing recommendations for corrective actions.
- Support management in forecasting future financial performance based on historical data and market trends.
4. Tax Preparation and Compliance
- Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring compliance with local, national, and international tax laws and regulations.
- Calculate tax liabilities and ensure that payments are made on time to avoid penalties or interest charges.
- Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation and recommend strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
5. Internal Controls and Audits
- Implement and maintain internal financial controls to safeguard the company’s assets and prevent fraud or errors.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing financial data, records, and reports as requested.
- Ensure that the company’s financial practices are in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
6. Providing Financial Advice
- Provide financial analysis and advice to management to support decision-making and strategic planning.
- Offer insights into cost-saving opportunities, investment strategies, and risk management practices.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure that financial considerations are integrated into overall business planning.
7. Payroll Management
- Process employee payroll, ensuring accuracy in calculating salaries, deductions, and taxes.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure that employee compensation complies with legal requirements.
- Address any payroll discrepancies or employee inquiries related to compensation.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is a plus.
- Proven experience in accounting or financial management.
- Strong knowledge of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Knowledge of tax laws, financial regulations, and accounting standards.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
