Responsibilities
Planning and Coordination of Lifting Activities
- Develop detailed lifting plans and ensure proper execution of lifting operations according to project requirements.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to align lifting operations with project schedules.
- Assess site conditions to determine the safest and most efficient methods for rigging and lifting tasks.
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure all lifting operations comply with safety regulations, company policies, and local legal requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate potential hazards.
- Regularly inspect lifting equipment, including cranes, slings, and shackles, to ensure they are in good working condition.
Supervision and Team Management
- Lead and supervise a team of riggers and crane operators, ensuring adherence to safety and operational protocols.
- Provide guidance and support to the team during complex lifting operations.
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings to keep the team informed about procedures and potential risks.
Training and Development
- Train rigging and lifting personnel on proper techniques, equipment use, and safety protocols.
- Ensure all team members hold the necessary certifications and licenses for their roles.
- Monitor team performance and recommend additional training where required.
Problem-Solving and Incident Management
- Address challenges that arise during lifting operations, ensuring timely and effective solutions.
- Investigate and report incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Maintain a proactive approach to preventing accidents or equipment failure during operations.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain detailed records of all lifting activities, including equipment inspections and safety checks.
- Prepare and submit reports on lifting operations, incidents, and compliance audits.
- Ensure lifting equipment logs are up-to-date and meet inspection requirements.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in lifting and rigging operations, preferably in construction or heavy industry.
- Certification as a Lifting Supervisor or relevant qualification from a recognized authority.
- Strong knowledge of lifting equipment, rigging methods, and safety regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to conduct risk assessments and develop detailed lifting plans.
