Responsibilities
1. Strategic Fundraising and Development Planning
- Collaborate with the Director of Development and executive leadership to create and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with the organization’s short-term and long-term goals.
- Develop, implement, and monitor annual fundraising plans, ensuring the achievement of financial goals through various channels, including major gifts, corporate sponsorships, grants, and planned giving.
- Analyze fundraising performance data to inform strategy and adjust plans as necessary to ensure continued growth in revenue.
2. Donor Cultivation and Stewardship
- Cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with major donors, foundations, corporations, and other key stakeholders, ensuring that they are engaged and connected to the organization’s mission.
- Manage a portfolio of high-level donors, ensuring personalized engagement strategies to foster long-term relationships and secure major gifts.
- Create and implement donor recognition and stewardship plans to ensure sustained support and continued growth in giving.
3. Team Leadership and Development
- Lead and manage a team of development professionals, providing mentorship, coaching, and performance management to ensure individual and team success.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of development staff, ensuring the team has the skills and resources to meet fundraising goals.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture, promoting shared accountability for achieving the organization’s development objectives.
4. Campaign and Event Management
- Lead and manage the planning and execution of major fundraising campaigns, capital campaigns, and special initiatives, ensuring their successful completion.
- Oversee the planning and execution of donor events, including galas, fundraising dinners, and recognition events, ensuring a seamless experience that aligns with the organization’s brand and mission.
- Collaborate with the marketing and communications teams to develop campaign messaging and materials that effectively communicate the impact of donor contributions.
5. Grant Management and Proposal Writing
- Work closely with grant writers and program staff to identify funding opportunities, develop grant proposals, and manage grant reporting processes.
- Oversee the research and identification of new funding opportunities, ensuring that grant applications align with the organization’s priorities and capacity.
- Maintain relationships with foundation representatives, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and timely reporting.
6. Collaboration and Relationship Building
- Act as a key liaison between the development department and other internal teams, ensuring alignment and collaboration across departments.
- Work closely with board members, volunteers, and senior staff to support their fundraising efforts and engagement with donors.
- Represent the organization at community events, networking opportunities, and meetings to build relationships and advocate for the organization’s mission.
7. Data Management and Reporting
- Oversee the management of donor databases and ensure accurate tracking of donor interactions, gifts, and acknowledgments.
- Provide regular reports and updates on fundraising progress to senior leadership and the board of directors, highlighting successes, challenges, and areas for improvement.
- Analyze fundraising data to identify trends and opportunities for growth, using insights to inform strategy and decision-making.
