Responsibilities

Health and Safety Compliance

• Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies in alignment with legal requirements and industry standards.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Identify non-compliance issues and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks.

Risk Assessment and Hazard Control

• Perform detailed risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the workplace.
• Develop and implement strategies to minimize risks and prevent accidents.
• Monitor the effectiveness of control measures and make adjustments as necessary.

Incident Management and Reporting

• Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and accidents to determine their root causes.
• Prepare detailed reports on findings and suggest measures to prevent recurrence.
• Maintain accurate records of all safety incidents and related documentation.

Training and Awareness

• Conduct training sessions for employees on health, safety, and environmental policies and practices.
• Raise awareness about potential hazards and the importance of adhering to safety protocols.
• Ensure that all staff are equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to maintain a safe workplace.

Environmental Protection

• Monitor and manage the organization’s environmental impact, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Promote sustainable practices, including waste management and resource conservation.
• Evaluate and implement environmental improvement initiatives.

Emergency Preparedness

• Develop and oversee emergency response plans, including fire drills and evacuation procedures.
• Coordinate with emergency services and ensure the organization is prepared for any contingencies.
• Ensure that all emergency equipment is maintained and functional.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Certification in health and safety management (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is highly desirable.
• Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in an industrial or construction environment.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively promote a safety culture.
• Ability to analyze complex situations, identify risks, and implement effective solutions.
