Key Responsibilities
Inspection and Testing
- Perform non-destructive testing using methods such as ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle, dye penetrant, and eddy current testing.
- Evaluate materials, components, and structures to detect surface and subsurface defects.
- Follow established testing procedures and ensure adherence to industry standards and regulations.
Analysis and Reporting
- Interpret and analyze test results to determine the condition and suitability of materials or components.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports, including findings, measurements, and recommendations.
- Communicate results effectively to supervisors, engineers, or clients.
Equipment Operation and Maintenance
- Set up, calibrate, and operate NDT equipment according to testing requirements.
- Conduct routine maintenance and ensure equipment is functioning optimally.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, calibration, and maintenance activities.
Safety and Compliance
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols during testing operations to protect personnel and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, client requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Participate in safety training and continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaboration and Support
- Work closely with engineering and quality assurance teams to ensure project goals are met.
- Provide technical support and expertise during the planning and execution of inspection tasks.
- Assist in training junior technicians and sharing knowledge on NDT methods and best practices.
Qualifications and Skills
- Certification in NDT methods (e.g., ASNT Level II, PCN Level 2) in relevant techniques.
- Proven experience in non-destructive testing within the construction, manufacturing, or oil and gas industries.
- Strong knowledge of NDT principles, tools, and techniques.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and test results.
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
- Physical fitness and the ability to work in confined spaces or at heights if required.
Working Conditions
NDT Technicians may work in various environments, including industrial plants, construction sites, or offshore locations. The role may require travel, long hours, and working in challenging conditions such as confined spaces or adverse weather. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as per site requirements.
