Key Responsibilities

  1. Managing Daily Operations
    The Food & Beverage Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the restaurant, bar, and catering services. This includes coordinating with kitchen and service staff to ensure smooth service, maintaining cleanliness and organization, and managing inventory. The manager ensures that food and beverage outlets operate efficiently and are well-prepared for peak service times while adhering to health and safety regulations.
  2. Ensuring Service Quality and Customer Satisfaction
    A critical responsibility of the Food & Beverage Manager is to maintain high levels of service quality and customer satisfaction. This involves regularly monitoring customer feedback, addressing complaints or issues promptly, and implementing improvements to enhance the guest experience. The manager works closely with the culinary team to ensure that the menu offerings meet customer expectations in terms of quality, presentation, and taste.
  3. Staff Management and Training
    The Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for hiring, training, and supervising all food and beverage staff, including waitstaff, bartenders, and kitchen staff. This includes scheduling shifts, conducting performance reviews, and providing ongoing training to ensure staff members deliver excellent service. The manager fosters a positive working environment and encourages teamwork, professionalism, and adherence to company standards.
  4. Budgeting and Cost Control
    A significant aspect of the Food & Beverage Manager’s role is managing budgets and controlling costs. This includes monitoring expenses related to food and beverage purchases, labor, and operational supplies. The manager is responsible for developing strategies to optimize profits while minimizing waste, negotiating with suppliers for the best prices, and ensuring that the department meets financial targets.
  5. Menu Planning and Development
    The Food & Beverage Manager collaborates with chefs and culinary staff to plan and develop menus that reflect customer preferences, seasonal ingredients, and industry trends. This includes creating special promotions, themed dining events, and seasonal menu offerings. The manager ensures that the menu items align with the establishment’s brand and appeal to the target audience while maintaining cost efficiency.
  6. Compliance with Health and Safety Standards
    Ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations is a critical responsibility of the Food & Beverage Manager. This includes enforcing proper food handling procedures, maintaining clean and sanitized kitchen and dining areas, and ensuring that all employees adhere to health and safety protocols. The manager also ensures that the establishment complies with local laws and regulations regarding alcohol service and other relevant guidelines.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in food and beverage management, with 5+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of food and beverage service operations, including menu planning, inventory management, and budgeting.
  • Ability to manage and resolve customer service issues effectively.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Proficiency in using point-of-sale (POS) systems, budgeting software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
