Responsibilities
1. Installation and Setup of Systems
- Install and configure low voltage electrical systems, such as security systems, lighting controls, and network wiring, as well as audio-visual equipment such as projectors, speakers, and video conferencing systems.
- Set up, calibrate, and test AV systems, ensuring that all components are functioning properly.
- Run cables, connect devices, and set up racks and AV equipment in commercial, residential, or event settings.
- Ensure all installations meet safety standards and manufacturer guidelines, following local building codes and regulations.
2. Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Provide regular maintenance and system checks for AV and low voltage equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with audio-visual systems and low voltage wiring, resolving problems in a timely manner.
- Repair or replace faulty components, cables, or other system parts, ensuring systems are quickly restored to full functionality.
- Respond to service calls, providing on-site technical support and problem resolution for clients.
3. System Integration and Testing
- Integrate various AV and low voltage systems into one cohesive and functional setup, ensuring compatibility and smooth operation between devices.
- Conduct comprehensive testing of AV systems to ensure all equipment operates as expected, including sound systems, visual displays, and control interfaces.
- Adjust settings for optimal performance, including fine-tuning audio quality, video clarity, and system settings.
4. Customer Interaction and Support
- Communicate directly with clients to understand their technical needs and provide tailored solutions.
- Offer training to clients on how to use AV systems effectively, including remote controls, user interfaces, and any specialized equipment.
- Provide excellent customer service, ensuring that all client needs are addressed and that systems continue to perform effectively over time.
- Assist with any additional customer requests or follow-up support after installations or repairs.
5. Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of installations, service calls, and system configurations, including all repairs and upgrades made to the equipment.
- Create reports for management and clients detailing the work performed, equipment used, and any issues or improvements made.
- Ensure that all system designs, wiring diagrams, and installation guides are documented properly for future reference or maintenance.
6. Safety and Compliance
- Adhere to all safety standards when working with electrical systems and AV equipment, ensuring that all installations and maintenance activities are conducted safely.
- Follow industry guidelines and best practices for wiring, system setup, and equipment handling.
- Ensure that all installations comply with local regulations, building codes, and company policies.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent (a technical degree or certification in electronics, audio-visual technology, or a related field is preferred).
- Proven experience as an LV/AV Technician or in a similar technical role, with hands-on knowledge of low voltage and audio-visual systems.
- Proficiency in installing and troubleshooting AV systems, including projectors, sound systems, video conferencing equipment, and control systems.
- Familiarity with wiring and electrical systems for low voltage installations, including network setups, security systems, and lighting controls.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with clients and team members.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, when necessary.
