Responsibilities

Transaction Processing

  • Accurately process customer purchases, returns, and exchanges using cash registers or point-of-sale systems.
  • Handle various payment methods, including cash, credit/debit cards, and digital wallets, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly.
  • Issue receipts, refunds, or change to customers promptly and efficiently.

Customer Service

  • Greet customers warmly and assist them with any questions or concerns they may have.
  • Provide information about products, promotions, and store policies to enhance the customer experience.
  • Resolve complaints or escalate issues to the appropriate supervisor when necessary.

Cash Management

  • Balance the cash register at the start and end of each shift to ensure accuracy in financial records.
  • Report any discrepancies in cash or transaction records to management immediately.
  • Safeguard cash, vouchers, and other forms of payment from theft or loss.

Store Support

  • Maintain a clean and organized checkout area to ensure a pleasant environment for customers.
  • Assist with restocking shelves, bagging items, and tidying the store as required.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure smooth operations during peak hours or busy periods.

Adherence to Policies and Procedures

  • Comply with company policies regarding transaction handling, discounts, and refunds.
  • Follow all safety and security guidelines to protect assets and ensure a secure working environment.
  • Stay updated on changes to store policies, pricing, and promotions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a cashier or retail role is preferred but not mandatory.
