Responsibilities
Financial Recordkeeping and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the organization, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Prepare financial statements, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to provide a clear picture of the company’s financial position.
- Ensure all financial transactions are recorded in accordance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of year-end financial reports and facilitate external audits.
Budgeting and Financial Planning
- Work with management to develop annual budgets, monitoring expenditures to ensure alignment with the company’s financial objectives.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and potential areas for improvement in financial performance.
- Provide recommendations to improve financial efficiency and profitability based on budget performance.
Tax Compliance and Documentation
- Prepare and submit tax returns, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
- Keep up-to-date with tax laws and regulations to ensure the organization is in compliance.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax consultants to ensure accurate tax filings and timely submissions.
Accounts Management
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payment of invoices and proper collection of receivables.
- Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies between accounts.
- Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure the organization has adequate liquidity for operations.
Internal Controls and Compliance
- Develop and enforce internal controls to ensure the accuracy and security of financial information.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures as well as regulatory requirements.
- Assist in reviewing financial systems and procedures, recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce risk.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an accountant or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Knowledge of tax laws and financial regulations.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
