Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Program Implementation:
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive health, safety, and environmental programs and policies.
- Ensure that all safety procedures and protocols are followed by employees and contractors.
- Conduct safety training sessions and drills to educate employees on safe work practices.
- Risk Assessment and Management:
- Perform regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the workplace.
- Develop and implement control measures to mitigate identified risks.
- Monitor the effectiveness of risk control measures and make adjustments as necessary.
- Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:
- Ensure the organization’s compliance with local, national, and international HSE regulations and standards.
- Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Prepare and submit reports to regulatory bodies as required.
- Incident Investigation and Reporting:
- Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine their causes.
- Prepare detailed reports on accidents and incidents, including recommendations for corrective actions.
- Ensure that all incidents are documented and reported in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Emergency Preparedness and Response:
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
- Conduct regular emergency drills to ensure preparedness for various scenarios, such as fire, chemical spills, or medical emergencies.
- Coordinate with local emergency services and ensure that they are familiar with the site’s emergency procedures.
- Health and Environmental Monitoring:
- Monitor workplace conditions to ensure the health and safety of employees, including air quality, noise levels, and chemical exposure.
- Implement environmental protection measures to minimize the organization’s impact on the environment.
- Ensure proper waste management and disposal procedures are followed.
- Safety Audits and Inspections:
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of the workplace, equipment, and processes.
- Identify areas of non-compliance and work with relevant departments to address issues.
- Prepare audit reports and track the implementation of corrective actions.
- Safety Culture Promotion:
- Foster a culture of safety within the organization by promoting safe behaviors and practices.
- Engage employees in safety initiatives and encourage their participation in safety programs.
- Recognize and reward safe behaviors to reinforce the importance of safety.
- Training and Development:
- Develop and deliver training programs on various HSE topics, including hazard identification, emergency response, and safe work practices.
- Ensure that all employees, including new hires and contractors, receive appropriate HSE training.
- Maintain records of all training activities and certifications.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all HSE activities, including risk assessments, incident reports, and training records.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management on HSE performance, including key metrics and trends.
- Document and share best practices to continuously improve the organization’s HSE program.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) are a plus.
- Proven experience in an HSE role, with a strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices.
- Knowledge of risk assessment and incident investigation techniques.
- Proficiency in HSE management systems and tools.
