Key Responsibilities:

  1. Safety Program Implementation:
    • Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive health, safety, and environmental programs and policies.
    • Ensure that all safety procedures and protocols are followed by employees and contractors.
    • Conduct safety training sessions and drills to educate employees on safe work practices.
  2. Risk Assessment and Management:
    • Perform regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the workplace.
    • Develop and implement control measures to mitigate identified risks.
    • Monitor the effectiveness of risk control measures and make adjustments as necessary.
  3. Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:
    • Ensure the organization’s compliance with local, national, and international HSE regulations and standards.
    • Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
    • Prepare and submit reports to regulatory bodies as required.
  4. Incident Investigation and Reporting:
    • Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine their causes.
    • Prepare detailed reports on accidents and incidents, including recommendations for corrective actions.
    • Ensure that all incidents are documented and reported in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
  5. Emergency Preparedness and Response:
    • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
    • Conduct regular emergency drills to ensure preparedness for various scenarios, such as fire, chemical spills, or medical emergencies.
    • Coordinate with local emergency services and ensure that they are familiar with the site’s emergency procedures.
  6. Health and Environmental Monitoring:
    • Monitor workplace conditions to ensure the health and safety of employees, including air quality, noise levels, and chemical exposure.
    • Implement environmental protection measures to minimize the organization’s impact on the environment.
    • Ensure proper waste management and disposal procedures are followed.
  7. Safety Audits and Inspections:
    • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of the workplace, equipment, and processes.
    • Identify areas of non-compliance and work with relevant departments to address issues.
    • Prepare audit reports and track the implementation of corrective actions.
  8. Safety Culture Promotion:
    • Foster a culture of safety within the organization by promoting safe behaviors and practices.
    • Engage employees in safety initiatives and encourage their participation in safety programs.
    • Recognize and reward safe behaviors to reinforce the importance of safety.
  9. Training and Development:
    • Develop and deliver training programs on various HSE topics, including hazard identification, emergency response, and safe work practices.
    • Ensure that all employees, including new hires and contractors, receive appropriate HSE training.
    • Maintain records of all training activities and certifications.
  10. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all HSE activities, including risk assessments, incident reports, and training records.
    • Prepare regular reports for senior management on HSE performance, including key metrics and trends.
    • Document and share best practices to continuously improve the organization’s HSE program.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) are a plus.
  • Proven experience in an HSE role, with a strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment and incident investigation techniques.
  • Proficiency in HSE management systems and tools.
