Key Responsibilities

Tax Compliance and Reporting

  • Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate records of tax filings and documents to ensure an organized audit trail.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations, adapting processes and filings as necessary to remain compliant.

Tax Planning and Strategy

  • Assist in developing and implementing tax strategies that align with the company’s financial objectives, identifying opportunities for tax savings and minimization of liabilities.
  • Analyze financial data to identify potential tax risks or benefits and provide recommendations to optimize tax position.
  • Collaborate with senior management to forecast tax expenses and develop strategies for future tax obligations.

Audit Support and Risk Management

  • Prepare documentation and work closely with auditors during tax audits, providing necessary information and explanations to ensure smooth audit processes.
  • Identify potential tax risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize exposure to penalties or legal challenges.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with tax laws.

Advisory and Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Provide guidance and support to other departments regarding tax-related matters, ensuring all business activities comply with relevant tax codes.
  • Coordinate with external tax consultants and legal advisors on complex tax issues, leveraging external expertise when required.
  • Train and mentor junior accounting staff on tax regulations and best practices, ensuring compliance across the finance team.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in tax accounting, with a strong background in corporate tax, tax compliance, and financial reporting.
  • Skills: Extensive knowledge of tax codes, regulations, and filing processes; proficiency with tax preparation software and ERP systems.
  • Attributes: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
