The Different Job Levels in the UAE

There are nine main levels in the UAE job market:

• Level 1: Leaders and Managers: This includes CEOs, directors, doctors, lawyers, and engineers with advanced degrees.
• Level 2: Professionals: These are jobs that require a university degree or extensive training, like architects, accountants, and teachers.
• Level 3: Technicians: Think medical technicians, lab assistants, and graphic designers. They typically have diplomas or specialized training.
• Level 4: Content Creators: This covers writers, editors, and translators.
• Level 5: Customer Service and Sales: This includes everyone from waiters and waitresses to salespeople and administrative assistants.
• Level 6: Skilled Trades: This level includes plumbers, electricians, and farmers who need specific skills and training.

What Makes a Job “Skilled” in the UAE?

To be considered “skilled work” in the UAE, your job needs to meet four requirements:

1. Job Level: Your job must fall under one of the first five levels (leader, professional, technician, content creator, or customer service/sales).
2. Education: You need a diploma, certificate, or higher education qualification.
3. Certification: Your qualification needs to be approved by the relevant authorities.
4. Salary: Your monthly salary must be at least AED 4,000 (around $1,090).
